Came across a review for the book, 'Shop Class as Soulcraft: An Inquiry Into the Value of Work'.The author argues that cubicle office work is often meaningless, soul-destroying, while craft work (e.g. trades) is ultimately more satisfying and can't be outsourced. I agree.
It's nice to have a lifetime of work - sustainable forestry - where the effects and benefits of improved knowledge and skill is directly applied.
